About
David Bowie is considered to be one of the most innovative music personalities and multimedia innovators of the last 50 years, from the androgynous, cosmic character of Ziggy Stardust, to the soul-influenced Station To Station, to his final project, Blackstar, Bowie was a master of reinvention, and one who continually sought new sonic and creative inspirations, as well as was an archetype for creative progressiveness and all things cutting edge. An aspect of Bowie’s legacy, which hasn’t been fully explored, is the influence that Black culture and Black music exerted upon Bowie’s creative considerations and, in return, the influence that Bowie has had on aspects of progressive Black music. Indeed, while alive, Bowie worked with everyone from Nina Simone to Luther Vandross to Grace Jones to Niles Rodgers to TV On The Radio and more.
