SXSW Music: Wu Tang Clan, DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown, CJ Fly, Kweku Collins, Eli Sostre and More


Fusicology is going to SXSW! This year SXSW music is celebrating it’s 31st year. During SXSW (March 14-18) music artists will embark upon Austin, Texas from 26 countries representing sounds from across the globe. According to SXSW, highlights include Pro Era rapper and founding member CJ Fly, rising R&B singer Kadhja Bonet, Cuban rapper-singer La Dame Blanche and others.

Leading up to SXSW, music enthusiasts can follow the official SXSW playlist, and Artist of the Day Series as well as the SXSW Daily Chord.

We are excited to check out Kweku Collins at the Mohawk Indoor on March 16, 2017(11:15pm – 12:00 am). Kweku is a rapper/producer/songwriter from Evanston, Il. In 2016 Kweku released Nat Love which has landed him in publications such as FADER, Billboard and more.

The SXSW Music Opening Party is sponsored by Sensu Music and will take place on on Tuesday, March 14 at Maggie Mae’s from 6-9PM. Fusicology will be there to support Noname and check out the sounds of other artists chosen to headline this iconic event. The Music Opening Party is open to Music and Platinum badges as well as artist wristbands.

Showcasing artists of SXSW are featured here: DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown aka ERYKAH BADU and the Wu-Tang Clan perform at Austin City Limits live at the Moody Theater on March 14, 2017. Several Hip Hop / Rap showcases are taking place on March 14, 2017 at 512 which is located at 408 E. 6th Street.

CES 2017 REVIEW: Must-Have Headsets Offering Bling Bling, Triology, Noise Canceling and more


To start off 2017, manufacturers from across the globe to show off the latest trends and products in Sin City. With more than 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space and 3,800 exhibiting companies, CES 2017 was the year of the wireless earbuds, headsets, turntables and more. Battery life is always an issue with wireless technology, but some of this years’ must-have’s provide up to 18 hours of battery life.

While at CES, our European based consumer electronics analyst/editor was able to listen to sound from various headsets during the press and analyst days and have curated a collection of our most memorable ear devices for our music enthusiasts whether you are in the gym, studio or on the go.



Klipsch Heritage HP-3 - These headphones from Klipsch made it to CES in prototype form. The Heritage HP-3 is crafted of real oak and metal. The Klipsch Heritage offers high-end quality sound.




Ella -  During CES 2017, Blue unveiled Ella, which offers a revolutionary ergonomic fit and ensures optimal sound isolation. Ella combines planar magnetic technology and a built-in amplifier

Onkyo’s H900Ms – Onkyo’s Diamond Headphones range from $80,000 to $100,000, and are hand-crafted with a specific buyer in mind depending on customization preferences. Each pair contains 20 karats of diamonds, comes with a 3.5mm headphone chord inclusive of diamonds, and offers full sound and passive noise cancelation. 




Focal Utopia by Tournaire -  These were the Bently of all headsets. Crafted from 18 carat gold and mounted with a total of 6.5 carats of diamonds, these headphones have been hand-crafted entirely in the Tournaire workshops designed by Maison Tournaire. The mark of triology, represents Tournaire’s mark, the evolution of life and represents the three stages of life, the past, present and future.  There were eight copies made of these headsets. Priced at €100.000 for the headphones alone, or for €110.000 with its dedicated stand, you could be one of the lucky eight. 


Xelento Remote - Beyerdynamics’ Xelento Remote (made in Germany) comes with dual tangle-free cables, including one with a remote, and a wide variety of accessories. These miniaturized Tesla technology headsets offer excellent clarity, great balance, precision, and a gorgeous aluminum design.

CES is one of the most important tech events of the year, full of innovation, big announcements, great music, and good parties. We wanted to compile a list of a few things to see and attend while at CES 2017. Things to check out:

A truly global show, CES expects more than 50,000 international professionals representing 150 countries.

During CES Fusicology’s team will be on the lookout for the latest products and services, cover top music events, and send you flavor and buzz from Las Vegas. Let’s get the party started. It has been rumored that one of your favorite brands will reveal its ability to utilize your TV screen to fuse music and technology during CES 2017. Samsung, the Korean electronics giant will launch three SmartTV services, which aims to personalize viewers experiences by merging Sports, Music, and TV. The new music service brings together music from eight different app partners, including Spotify, iHeartRadio, Napster, Deezer, Sirius XM, Vevo, Melon, and others. Apparently, the service will make recommendations based on viewer listening habits across all apps.

Soul Electronics will be at CES showcasing a range of earphones and headphones. Focal will bring a one of a kind pair of Utopia headphones that have been designed in collaboration with French jewellers Tournaire. The headband is made up of an 18k gold plate that has three diamonds totalling 6.5 karats. Audio Technica will be revealing their Bluetooth wireless headphones which utilizes their Pure Digital Drive technology. Hottttt!

Innovative solutions from startup accelerators and popular crowdfunding platforms such as Indiegogo will be present as well. One of Europe’s top German startups, Basslet will showcase their wearable subwoofer in the Hardware Club accelerator area. We will definitely check this out.

This year at CES brings together decades of supporters intermixed with known brands, new technologies, and of course fabulous peeps.. We will be there representing the Soul Diaspora and taking things to the next level…

CES Music Contest: Open Call for all Musicians and Artists


The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) is once again is hosting a contest for artists submit their music and have it featured as the soundtrack for the CES 2017 opening keynote video. Submissions can be made here. CES 2017 runs January 5-8, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV.

The winner will be publicly announced during CES Unveiled New York on November 10, 2016 and receive worldwide recognition as well as a $5,000 cash prize, a two-night stay in Las Vegas during CES 2017 and the opportunity to perform their winning song live on-stage prior to the opening keynote address. 

Eligible applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM EDT on Thursday, September 1, 2016 and meet the following criteria:

* Music must be an original piece
* Music must be at least 90 seconds in length
* Any lyrics cannot be offensive
* All genres of music are welcome
* The individual or musical group submitting the music must own the rights to the music and be willing to license the music to CTA in perpetuity for use in the keynote opening video, online distribution and for promotion purposes
* Individuals or groups submitting music must be 18 years old or have written permission from a legal guardian to submit the music
* Individuals or groups submitting must be legal U.S. residents
* Music submitted by stock or royalty free music suppliers WILL NOT be accepted
