As we experience growing conflict around the world and no real accountability from political leaders, Resonance 001 provides a post—election healing balm and dance party asking us: “What might be possible when we turn towards ourselves, listen to our bodies and in each other?”

Join the Crenshaw Creative Coalition presenting its month-long sound installation and community organizing experiment happening both online (zoom) and in real-time inside Phoenix Hall at the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC). The installation will feature a live sound bath designed to ground our energies before opening our hearts and minds with a line up of musicians, producers and DJ’s delivering sonic collage of uptempo original compositions and live edits set as a foundation to be layered with occasional intentions, affirmations and spoken word performances throughout the show.

Be sure to arrive early, as this experimental sound portal opens with a prayer for the collective, Afro-indigenous drum rhythms and libation honoring our shared spirit family. The sonic journey will continue with original compositions from guest sound artist Grandfather of 2092 Funk Radio Records layered with spoken word from Bay Davis and Stella the Poet. And for the featured presentation of the evening, Resonance 001 will close with 120 minutes of live sonic collage and embodied liberation from our resident sound architect Rush Davis.

More on Resonance:

In physics, resonance occurs when an object or system is subject to an external vibration that matches its natural frequency.

Similarly, amongst each other, resonance might speak to the ways we get to slow down, meet each other where we’re at and become more active as listeners and effective collaborators.

Aiming to illustrate the powerful connections between sound, resonance, and the dynamics of creative collaboration, we hope you will join us for an examination and a celebration of our human capacity.
