2012 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival Afterthoughts

We got #8 in the can and in various ways it was our best one. Beautiful space, great weather and historic performances. ‘Scenario’ and ‘PTA’ haven’t been performed live in over 20 years.

Being able to produce and capture moments like that for the kids and Hip-Hop faithful alike is what we are all about. Although I was back stage working with the NYPD to buy the time, watching Dinco and Phife walk up on stage was worth every minute of stress.

On the other end, we are proud to continue to provide platforms for emerging artists like Ka,who had Pharrell come check him out earlier in the day.

From Lil Fame to Kosha Dillz to Clear Soul Forces to our vendors, sponsors and fans, we send a deep and sincere thank you.

Already thinking about the 9th Annual….

Brooklyn Hip Hop Fest Recap:

BHF’12 Final Day was a full day starting with Family Day activities and performances that included the Rhyme Calisthenics NYC Championship, dance demos, and Likwuid on the set. Once 3pm came around, Show & Prove Super Bowl winner Charmingly Ghetto took stage, other performers included Ka, Chuuwee, $amhill, Fat Tony and Busta Rhymes & Friends.

Shout out to Uncle Ralph McDaniels, Maya Azucena and Kosha Dillz our Festival hosts. Our Kickstarter donor, Kosha  held us down during the campaign with his generosity as the largest donor and on Final Day killed it spitting about the Festival in different languages!

For our killer Busta & Friends showcase, the Dungeon Dragon went through some of his classic hits with Spliff Star then brought out Buckshot of Black Moon, Smif-N-Wessun, Lil’ Fame of M.O.P., Slick Rick, Reek Da Villian. The icing on the cake was a Leaders Of The New School reunion with Charlie Brown and Dinco D which was 19 years in the making. The night ended with L.O.N.S performing “Scenario” and bringing Phife and Q-Tip out just as the cops killed the power.  NYPD could not stop Busta from continuing to rock with the crowd.
