You got a story to tell? Folks are here to listen! Chicago's premier urban storytelling event, Grown Folks Stories hosted by Cara Brigandi, is hitting the road. Get ready for a night of pure storytelling: no readings, no judging, and no topic is off-limits; all you get is five minutes on the mic to tell your friends (and soon to be friends) all the details of that 'lost' weekend, mortifying moment, or regrettable rumor. The storytellers are chosen randomly from the names that are tossed in the hat, which means you get stories of the raw and the raucous, the lowdown and the lofty, the pleasure and the pain of Grown Folks Stories. After listening to stories of crazy ex's, bad dates, embarrassing bar fights, and hitting rock bottom, follow us to the official After-Party Funkmoshere at the Virgil where we'll toast all the funny memories, the dirty gossip, and the down-in-the-dumps tales. Grown Folks Stories has been a monthly event at the Silver Room in Chicago for the past 3 years: This is not a poetry slam or reading so no auditions please. Be sure to get there early to drop your name in the hat to tell your story. Doors open at 7PM and stories start promptly at 8PM.
