POWER FORWARD FUNDRAISER: MSG SPORTS, NY LIBERTY & GrassROOTS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER
@ Ainsworth Prime @ Madison Square Garden, Thursday Apr 26 2012

Power Forward is a charity concert that will bring together business professionals, Essex County city officials, activists, philanthropists, and residents of Newark, East Orange and Orange, NJ and our media sponsor Allhiphop.com for a lively night of music and advocacy. Attendees can look forward to dynamic performances from Black Thought and ?uestlove, from The Roots, along with up and coming artists Maya Azucena, Paul Lowe Jr. and Nneka Best with DJ Spinna.

Hosting the first ever Power Forward event will be renowned actress Regina Hall, who is best known for her roles in Think Like a Man, the Scary Movie series, and Love and Basketball.

This event is the result of a strategic partnership between GCF and The New York Liberty who share a common goal of spreading awareness about women’s health and empowerment. Power Forward specifically addresses the importance of using sports to increase physical activity and reducing obesity among impoverished women and girls.

Did you know that the NY Liberty play at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ? Did you know that sports and physical activity improve academic performance?

Together the NY Liberty and GrassROOTS are working to improve the health and well-being of families through the H.E.A.L program. Health Education And Literacy (HEAL) is a family program that teaches both parents and children the joys and health benefits of yoga and cooking together, all while improving families health literacy.  H.E.A.L. welcomes parents with children (K-3rd grade) to join us in practicing Ancient Kemetic yoga to experience the benefits of increased focus, agility and higher energy: keys to educational and professional achievement. For more information about H.E.A.L : http://www.grass-rootsfoundation.org/heal/heal.html.

The event begins at 8pm

Must be 21+ to attend the event.

All tickets can be donated back to GrassROOTS on behalf of the HEAL families.
