Tastemaker Live & Sean Healy Presents...
Flossafee & Cali Sounds
On Thursday, April 26, German born, Compton raised rapper, Problem will be coming to downtown Oakland and gracing the stage of the intimate new music hall, Vitus. Hip-hop fans were first introduced to Problem when he wrote a verse for his good friend, Terrace Martin on the song, “Be Thankful,” featured on Snoop Dogg's compilation album “The Big Squeeze.” The track caught the attention of such bigwigs as Nas and Talib Kweli among others. When Snoop Dogg heard Problem's track, “Neva Hafta To Wurry About That,” produced by Martin, he knew that Problem just might be a new solution. Problem then went on to write three tracks for Snoop's “Ego Trippen” LP and the rest is history.
Thus far, Problem has dropped seven mixtapes and has been signed to Universal. His biggest hit “I'm Toe Up” hit heavy rotation on mainstream radio in LA and caught the eye of DJ Felli Fell who remixed it with DJ Quik, Kurupt, Terrace Martin and Snoop. Problem has also infiltrated Bay Area airwaves via an introduction by the ambassador of the Bay, E-40. Problem is featured on the hook of E-40’s huge radio hit, “Function.”
Opening for Problem will be some of Detroit’s burgeoning talent, Dusty McFly and SayItAintTone. Dusty will be performing songs from his mixtape, “Buffies & Benihana.” He's collaborated on tracks like “Iraq” with Big Sean and Freddie Gibbs and is making a solid name for himself. The Bay Area will get their first taste of McFly and label mate SayItAintTone who has also worked with and come up under Big Sean. SayItAintTone will perform his hit “My Closet” that features Big Sean and a walk-in closet worth of style and swagger. There is a high potential of a special guest appearance at this show that could send it into orbit.
