King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is anything if not prolific. The Australian acid rockers recently announced their manifesto of releasing five albums in 2017, with ‘Flying Microtonal Banana’ being the inaugural LP. With eight LPs fusing surf grooves, garage rock, and psych flourishes, we can’t wait to hear what the King has in store.
‘Flying Microtonal Banana’ was borne of the band’s audacious experimentation with custom microtonal guitars, modified to play in 24-TET tuning. The record as a whole features the modified electric guitars, basses, keyboards and harmonica, as well as a turkish horn called a Zurna, all recorded between April and September 2016 and mixed by Jarvis Taveniere of Woods.
