Fresh off the plane from Coachella where he played unprecedented sets both weekends with seminal trio Company Flow, iconic Brooklyn rapper/producer El-P announces a string of headlining dates presented by the global leader of street wear online Karmaloop and supported by a cast of rising hip-hop talent including Killer Mike, Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, andDespot. Before the tour, El-P and Despot kick things off with a C4C release party at Santos Party House in NYC on Monday,May 21st and will be directly supporting Cancer4Cure, his album on Fat Possum Records dropping May 22nd.
In anticipation of the tour, El has chosen to bless listeners with another preview off the album, the steely, speaker-shattering "Tougher Colder Killer" which finds El penning an apology to the mother of a man he killed on the battlefield and descends into a savage back-and-forth between himself, Despot, and Killer Mike (for whom El-P recently produced an entire album).Cancer4Cure is among El's most cohesive accomplishments to date- an unflinching dissection of personal, popular and political conflict from a legendary innovator of the genre, the album is completely self-produced and offers prescience of the next wave of maximal, thought-provoking, hardcore rap that he pioneered, and does so not a moment too soon.
