Yoko Ono with the backing of Amnesty International, will be giving the grant to Pussy Riot in New York City today in the hope that they will be released as soon as possible.
On October 9th, 2012, in Reykjavik, Iceland, Yoko Ono will give the Biennial LennonOno Grant For Peace to five activists. This day also celebrates the birthday of John Lennon and his son Sean.

The Pussy Riot team, including Pyotr Verzilov, husband of imprisoned Pussy Riot member Nadya Tolokonnikova who has become the de facto spokesperson for the collective (here on CNN with Christiane Amanpour), their four year old daughter Gera, along with the collective’s whole legal defense team will speak briefly at the event along with Suzanne Nossel, executive Director of Amnesty International USA.
