All-star lineup, fireworks, surprises set for world’s biggest dance party July 4th
40,000+ expected for 25th anniversary celebration of Chicago house music
“When we first gathered behind the Museum of Science & Industry in 1990, we had no idea that our little ‘love fest’ would become a cultural phenomenon that draws people from everywhere. We are excited to commemorate 25 years of celebrating the roots of house music, which has grown from its Chicago birthplace into a multifaceted global sound.” –Wayne Williams, Chosen Few DJs founder
(CHICAGO)—The world’s biggest dance party just got bigger, with extended hours, fireworks and a slew of events announced today by the Chosen Few DJs collective for their 25th annual “Chosen Few Old School Reunion Picnic” weekend, July 2-5, 2015 in Chicago.
Nicknamed the “Woodstock of House Music” for its family reunion vibe, the signature July 4th picnic is expected to draw more than 40,000 fans to Chicago’s Jackson Park to celebrate house music. It is believed to be the world’s oldest and largest single-day event dedicated to the dance genre.
Picnic hours are extended by one hour—from 8 AM to 9 PM (park opens at 6 AM)—and will feature
performances by GRAMMY-winning and nominated recording artists Stephanie Mills, Evelyn “Champagne” King and Cory Daye, plus sets from guest DJs Masters At Work duo Louie Vega and Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Derrick Carter, Stan Zeff, Keith Fobs and Greg Gray. Rounding out entertainment are the Chosen Few DJs: Wayne Williams, Jesse Saunders, Tony Hatchett, Alan King, Andre Hatchett, Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn.
