The Sónar festival hosts over 98,000 visitors from 80 countries over 3 days and 3 nights.
Dance music took centre stage at Sónar 2012.
Sónar Barcelona was the culmination of the festival’s international travels this year, which have taken it to Sao Paulo, Tokyo and Cape Town.
Sónar 2012 has presented three days of shows of the highest artistic quality. The positive combination of experienced and emerging artists, large format shows and more intimate approaches, and dance and experimentation was consolidated once again, thereby reinforcing the festival’s philosophy and spirit.
In musical terms, the more renowned artists met their own high standards, justifying their reputation and status as international benchmarks, while the rude health of dance music and the great talent of the young artists regenerating all the scenes of electronica was endorsed.
SonarPro, the festival area for professionals, also received an excellent reception in a year in which its activities, spaces and objectives increased, and played host to 2,500 professionals from the creative industries from 900 companies in 40 countries.
The results of the streamings of the festival highlights via the YouTube Sónar channel could not have been more positive, with 380,000 people following the shows all over the world during the first day. The festival estimates that the total number of viewers may be in excess of 800,000 after the second day.
Sónar would like to thank all those attending the festival for their extraordinary reception and the artists, professionals, businesses, sponsors and institutions whose collaboration and enthusiasm have made this 2012 event possible.
