Talib Kweli Announces “Prisoner of Conscious” Tour

This Memorial Day, May 28th, Talib Kweli will kick off his Prisoner of Conscious tour at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City. Slated for a Summer 2012 release, Kweli’s new album, Prisoner of Consciou (Blacksmith/EMI), features appearances from RZA, Busta Rhymes, Curren$y, Kendrick Lamar, Melanie Fiona and more. The video for the album’s lead single, the Oh No-produced “Distractions”, can be seen below.

It’s been a busy year for the Brooklyn MC. As one-half of Idle Warship, his alternative soul duo with singer-songwriter Res, Kweli released the collaborative album Habits of the Heart last Fall. Kweli has toured with Idle Warship consistently through 2012, while simultaneously gearing up for the release of Prisoner of Conscious.

Talib Kweli will also appear at Bonnaroo on Friday, June 8th along side Yasiin Bey, who together make up the revered hip-hop duo, Black Star.
